The catalyst for this landscape transformation was the pool. The landscape currently boasts a storage shed and a large fenced lawn that’s great for sports. We were tasked with creating a space the the whole family can enjoy and entertain in now that the kids are a little older. A more inviting human scale is created through the use of rooms and destinations throughout, and guests are encouraged to meander through to experience the entire a space.
A key component here is the new pergola that define the poolside lounge area. Because of the contrasting styles of each partner, we have offered up two solutions; the more contemporary post and beam pergola with a retractable awning, and the traditional pergola with rafters. Relaxed planting in both concepts softens the hardscape, and the built-in dining area will play a key role in the everyday function of the landscape.
